With a forecast for today the best I have seen all season created some excitement for my Walleye Charter fishing trip of the day. These guys are a group from last year that had to reschedule due to a weather cancellation last season.  The forecast for the day was light winds and some cooler temperatures but hot fishing would keep everyone comfortable.  We had been fishing North of Kelley’s Island for the last month of trips but today we headed west towards the reef complex.

I set down about 3 miles short of the reef complex with some great marks and several friends already catching fish.

We had a little bit of a delay with a few guys running late for the Walleye charter fishing trip and showed up to the area just as the fishing turned on. We ran the same program as we have been Bandits at 80-100 back.  The Bandit Crankbaits in chartreuse and purples did the majority of the damage during the day.  As the day wore on we managed to continue boxing limits and fine tuned our lead lengths to 90-100 back as we dialed in the fish.  As we searched to finish out our full boat limit a key factor for our success was locating fish sitting on a 1 foot contour change in bottom structure.

These guys did great with the Cisco trolling system and finished up their full boat limit of 42 Lake Erie Walleye an hour early with the Captain and mate being able to catch their limit also.  It was a great day on Lake Erie and we took a full cooler of fish home to enjoy.  I still have some opening in the fall and fishing will continue to improve.  You can give me a call to book your Walleye Charter Fishing trip of 2019.
