Marblehead Walleye Fishing Charter

Marblehead Ohio Walleye Charter

I am dreaming of warmer weather as Groundhogs day has passed and yet another 6 weeks of winter has been predicted.  Lake Erie has a blanket of ice in Marblehead for about as far as you can see.  The busy town of summer is noticeably slower and less crowded but it won’t be long before it restored to a vacation hotspot.  This is a great time of year to go through fishing gear; re-spooling fishing reels, changing hooks and tying harnesses are just some of the things that get done in February.  These things along with several other projects are items that must be done for the Charter Captains.  The maintenance of your gear makes fishing easier, creates a better experience for clients and produces results.  We have started our replacement of fishing tackle; some of our most used items are crawler harnesses, Perch hooks, Bandit Crankbaits, and Michigan Stinger Spoons.

The harnesses we use are made with materials from Jann’s Netcraft and are tied in house in a variety of colors.  Gold is the standard color but we do add some greens, orange, pinks and purples.  When we are trolling with harnesses or spoons we use Tru-Trips instead of other weight options, we feel that these are the best option for producing fish.  Our clients enjoy working the gear and learn the tricks of the Jet divers very quickly.  Sometimes the need for custom crankbaits presents itself due to water conditions, clarity or available foods, and there are none better than DJ’s Custom Eyes.  DJ’s paint schemes and quality are second to none with results that don’t lie.

We have 16 new Okuma Cold Water’s coming this spring and will be re spooling them with 30# Power Pro Braid, it is the only line we use and has held up under some serious abuse.  The gear is getting repairs where needed, cleaned and prepped to be on the boat by April.  We are still continuing to work on the “Erie Breeze” and complete our winter projects along with some preventative maintenance.  The engine maintenance is just about wrapped up and focus will shift to cleaning, waxing and finishing touches.  Some new lightning options are being added for those early morning trips.  The excitement for the start of the season has us working in high gear and hoping for an early spring in Marblehead, Ohio.  Our Lake Erie Walleye Charters are filling fast in the beginning of the fishing season but we still have a few prime dates left.  Give us a call to book your Lake Erie Fishing Charter today.

See you out there
