Marblehead, OH Fishing Charter

Old Lakeshore Charters attended the 36th annual Ohio Charter Captains Conference this past weekend.  Some of the great topics discussed were fish hatches, catch rates and future expectations.  The last few years of Lake Erie Walleye and Yellow Perch hatches have been a welcoming sign for the future of the fishery.  The Walleye population is estimated around 32 million and should increase next year with the previous hatches being ranked above average. Lake Erie Yellow Perch hatches have been consistently good over the last few years; this will continue to build on an already great fishery.   Last season over 800,000 Walleye and 4.1 million Yellow Perch were harvested in Lake Erie.  The catch rates from 2016 were the highest on record according to the Ohio Division of Wildlife.  Those numbers are expected to be comparable this year with a strong hatch recorded in 2015.  The future of Lake Erie continues to have a strong outlook for the renowned and sustainable resource that is shared by many.  We hope to see you aboard the “Erie Breeze” this year with us.  Thank you for all the support.   Captain Jerod Smith
